Gero Hellmuth was born in 1940 in Neustrelitz. He completed a diploma at his high-school in Stuttgart. He studied at the State Academy of the Fine Arts in Karlsruhe under the tutelage of professors Klaus Arnold, Peter Dreher, Gottfried Meyer. After which he studied art science and philosophy in Freiburg, Karlsruhe and Stuttgart. Since 1971 he has lived and worked in Singen (Hohentwiel).
