Jean-Louis Toutain

Jean-Louis Toutain, born in 1948 in Toulouse, was particularly attracted to the sculptural arts at a very early age. At the age of 14 he was already attending courses in pottery and interior design and thus found his way into the fine arts. The differing and complementary professional activities in which he was afterwards engaged show that he has several irons in the fire: his talent and his creativity are aroused mainly by the theatre, advertising, interior design, ergonomics and industrial design...

His period of 'ripening' was for him the time in which he allowed his own style to form a little at a time. In 1987 he decided to devote his time, his energy and his inspiration to creations of his own and presented his first works to the public. A large number of exhibitions and prizes followed. He won several awards at large national and international exhibitions and in 1991 he received the medal as 'Meilleur Ouvrier de France (M.O.F.)' for his sculptural and decorative work. This award enabled him to get involved in the restoration of listed cultural monuments in France and other countries. Today, constantly in search of creative challenges, the same applies both to him and to his art – he is continually developing further.
