Fuhrmannsbrunnen
The 'Fuhrmannstadt Mengen' received a new fountain as part of its redesign in 20012 in the city center in front of St. Martin's Church. The "Fuhrmannsbrunnen" is a reminder of the centuries-long tradition of the city as a trading and 'Waggoner' city. Incorporated on the bronze fountain surface are historical dates and events that "tell" of the interesting history of the Danube city Mengen, as well as the history and the dates the fountain also tells the story of the different personalities that have left their "tracks" in the city.
On October 9, 2011, real tracks from carts and people were taken as plaster casts and poured into the fountain surface.
The architects have also added figurative elements to the tracks, such as the imprint of a drum, a Roman sword or even a parcel that has fallen off a wagon.
All tracks have been built into the wax pattern and cast using the lost wax technique by the mold makers and modelers from Strassacker.
The nearly 5-meter diameter plate weighs about 1000 kg. Several source pots are fed with water by a controller and revive the surface of the fountain making it appealing to the eye.
The disk is accessible, inviting people to explore its surface for the texts and its hidden tracks.
