Dao Droste

Dao Droste was born in Saigon, Vietnam in 1952 into a family with an artistic tradition. In 1971, she moved to Germany, studied chemistry in Stuttgart and Heidelberg and got her Ph.D. with honors. Then she devoted herself entirely to the visual arts and has since made a name for herself as painter, sculptor and installation artist in equal measure.

She won international acclaim, primarily with her large-scale floor installation "Open-mindedness" – 500 faces, "terra cantans" – 150 heads made of terra cotta, which have been on display in many cities of Europe.

Her works are found in private and public collections in Germany and other countries: Walldorf - Roche Diagnostics - Haus der Bauindustrie Bremen-Nordniedersachsen - BG RCI, Heidelberg - Badisches Landesmuseum Karlsruhe - Museum am Ginkgo, Carl Bosch Museum, Heidelberg - Regierungspräsidium Karlsruhe - Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, Berlin - Stadt Eppelheim - BG-Unfallklinik Ludwigshafen...
